Herb Smith

Herb is recognized as one of the leading authorities on the homelessness issue in the country. Most recently, Herb served as President and CEO of the Los Angeles Mission from 2006 to 2019. Previously, he was CFO of the Los Angeles Mission from 1997-1999 and also served on the Board of Directors from 2001 to 2019, including tenure as Chairman of the Board.

Herb has also served as Chairman of the Board and Historian of City Gate Network for 9 years, North America’s oldest and largest community of independent, faith-based crisis shelters and life-transformation centers with over 300 homeless shelters and missions.

He is currently Director of Advancement and a Senior Consultant to City Gate Network. Herb was also President of the LA Central Providers Collaborative and Member of the LASHA Continuum of Care Board and served on several HOA boards and the advisory board to Teen Challenge Orange County.
